No, they are two separate apps. The tracking app is what participants use on their phones to appear on the live map. The race timing app is what you use to record finish times, and it is available from your administration dashboard once we have created your account.
Yes, for their own position to appear on the map. Anyone running without a phone is still timed as normal and still appears in results.
Tracking sends position updates at intervals rather than running continuously, so it is far lighter on battery than a training app. Positions are saved on the phone and sent when signal returns, so a dead spot delays an update rather than losing it.
It is designed for smaller events where full chip timing is not quite cost effective. If your event grows too big for it, we offer our full professional timing services.
